There are few more exciting cities to visit at a special time of the year like Easter than London. The arrival of spring makes many parks and green spaces across the city even more appealing, and whether you’re travelling as a family, a lone student or part of a group of friends, you’re bound to find something exciting to do over the Easter bank holiday weekend. THE PASSION OF JESUS

This is a full scale, open air re-enactment of the Easter story, chronicling the last days of Jesus on the streets of London. It features a cast of hundreds bolstered by the presence of horses, donkeys and doves. The Passion has been acted out like this for the best part of the last decade and attracts tens of thousands of spectators, some of whom are drawn by the religious content, others by simply the dazzling spectacle.

When: Friday 19th April 2019
The Passion takes place on Good Friday, and the 90 minute performance will be staged twice, once at 12pm and again at 3.15pm.

Where: Trafalgar Square

Ticket: The performance is given free of charge, though you’re probably advised to turn up early in order to grab a spot with a fantastic view.

RX NIGHTS

This is simply a great night-out to kick off your Easter weekend in the best possible style. The soundtrack for this legendary club night includes all your favourite slices of Hip Hop, R&B, Bashment and Dancehall. Admission is for over 18’s only, making this one of the best things to do on Easter for adults.

When: Friday 19th April, from 21:30 to 2:30

Where: RX Nights takes place at The Dingwalls venue, which is located within Camden Market on Camden Lock.

Tickets: Admission for the night costs between £5 and £20.

THE MASKED CARNIVAL

This is an indoor carnival that includes live music, DJ’s and interactive experiences. The Masked Carnival packs the excitement and glamour of something like Mardi Gras into one building, albeit crammed into three separate rooms. The music ranges from Latin and Disco from the DJs to live Balkan folk music played by The Balkanoes. The dress code includes bright colors and sequins.

When: The Masked Carnival takes place on Friday 19th September and runs from 21:30 to 5:00 the following morning.

Where: The Masked Carnival involves a complete takeover of The Islington Metal Works. This is a unique event venue originally opened in the 19th century and spread out over three floors close to the Angel Underground station in central London.

Tickets: Ticket prices range from £12 to £17.

EASTER FUN AT THE HORNIMAN

The Horniman museum and gardens is pulling the stops out this Easter, with a range of activities aimed at every member of the family. The fun includes a performance of ‘The Hen That Laid The Golden Eggs’, a version of the classic Aesop’s fable, Easter Trails for kids to follow the clues and win a prize, Lindy Hopping dance workshops, family craft activity and face painting.

When: Most of the events will be taking place over the whole of the Easter Weekend at various times. There will also be a Farmers Market on the Saturday and an Arts and Craft market on Saturday and Sunday.

Where: The Horniman Museum and Gardens is located on London Road in Forest Hill.

Tickets: The entry fees for the various events and activities vary. The Hen That Laid The Golden Eggs costs £5 per child and £2.50 per adult. The Easter Trail is £1, the Lindy Hopping workshops are free and the Make and Take family craft activities cost £5 per person.

HARRY POTTER MARATHON

If you’re a Harry Potter super fan, then this could be impossible to resist. It’s a chance to see all 8 of the Harry Potter films in one marathon screening. Escape from the Easter eggs and bunnies and enter into the world of Hogwarts, spells and magic.

When: The films will be screened on Easter day itself, starting at 8:45pm and not finishing until 5:40pm the next day.

Where: The Harry Potter Marathon is being screened at the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square.

Tickets: Tickets to see all 8 Harry Potter films screened in the order of release cost £32.50.
